KISSIMMEE, Fla. – North Park softball cut up their last day in Florida on Friday, shedding the first game to Simpson 5-3 earlier than earning a getaway 3-2 win over Loras in game two.

SIMPSON

Storm starter Taryan Barrick-Wesse had a formidable outing in opposition to a robust North Park offense, blanking the Vikings through 5 innings of work. Meanwhile, a solo homer within the second and two-run single within the third by Cameron Martin, RBI single by Ashlyn Steen in the fourth, and RBI groundout by Megan Heidelbauer within the fifth gave Simpson a 5-0 lead.

North Park started to mount a comeback in the sixth inning when Maddy Tan and Emily Reczek scored on Salyssa Garcia’s two-run single. The Vikings added one more run in the seventh on Kayla Lorenz’ homer, however the comeback fell quick.

LORAS

The ultimate game of the Vikings’ participation within the 2023 Dot Richardson Spring Games was a pitchers’ duel. North Park’s Maya Lafnear and Loras’s Laurissa Klapatauska traded scoreless innings all the way to the fifth. Once the Duhawks pulled Kalpatauskas in the high of the fifth, the Vikings went to work.

Kathryn Keehn doubled to left area and was joined on base after Eden Baker dropped down a bunt single. Next, after Baker swiped second, Isa Santos loaded the bases with another bunt single. Now with two outs, Maddy Tan cracked another clutch hit with a bases-clearing double into right-center subject.

Loras got a couple back of their half of the fifth with an RBI groundout and RBI single but Lafnear shut the door after that, securing the complete-game win, 3-2.
