Netflix is establishing a brand new internal recreation development studio situated in Helsinki, Finland which shall be led by former Zynga General Manager Marko Lastikka. With Netflix including downloadable and playable video games on its cellular app creating a new studio no doubt solidifies the streaming large’s objective to stretch its digital legs into the world of videogames.
“This is another step in our imaginative and prescient to build a world-class video games studio that may deliver a wide range of delightful and deeply partaking authentic video games — with no advertisements and no in-app purchases — to our hundreds of hundreds of thousands of members around the globe,” writes Amir Rahimi, VP of Game Studios at Netflix noting that this move is a half of a long-term plan for the company. “It’s still early days, and we’ve rather more work to do to deliver a great games experience on Netflix. Creating a game can take years, so I’m proud to see how we’re steadily constructing the inspiration of our games studios in our first year, and look ahead to sharing what we produce within the coming years.”
